CALLED COUNCIL MEETING

August 7, 2008

6:30pm

 

 

Mayor Tipton called the meeting to order and Councilman Ray led in prayer.  Mayor Tipton stated that the purpose of the called meeting was to hold an executive session for the discussion of attorney/client and land acquisition issues.  Councilman Ray made a motion to adjourn into executive session, Councilwoman Winn seconded the motion and it passed with five affirmative votes from Councilmembers Myrick, Ray, Strozier, Waller and Winn.  Councilman Rawlings was not present at the meeting when council adjourned into executive session, but arrived during the executive session.

 

At the conclusion of the executive session, Councilman Myrick made a motion to return to the general session, Councilman Ray seconded the motion and it passed with five affirmative votes. Councilman Rawlings did not vote.  Councilman Ray made a motion to execute the affidavit as required by the Open Meetings Act and make it a part of the permanent record.  Note:  A copy of the affidavit is attached to the original minutes of the meeting.  Councilwoman Winn seconded the motion and it passed with five affirmative votes.  Councilman Rawlings did not vote. 

 

Being no further business on the agenda of the called council meeting, Councilman Waller made a motion to adjourn, Councilman Strozier seconded the motion and it passed with five affirmative votes.  Councilman Rawlings did not vote.

                                                                             

Mayor Tipton and Councilmembers Myrick, Ray, Strozier, Waller and Winn were present when the general session was called to order with Councilman Rawlings arriving during the executive session.

 

 

Note:  Section § 50-14-1 of the Official Code of the State of Georgia Annotated requires that the minutes shall, as a minimum, include a description of each motion or other proposal made, and a record of all votes.  These minutes meet the minimum requirements.  However, in an attempt to provide as much information as possible to the citizens, the recording clerk has included additional background data and discussion on the subjects present to council.  The statements of individuals are not verbatim and may be summary in nature.
