Official Minutes of the November 2, 2017 Council Meeting

Approved by City Council at the November 16, 2017 Meeting

 

The Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Rozier with Dexter Shearouse giving the Invocation. Councilmembers Griffin, Grizzard, Kerby, Key, Otto, City Attorney Dickey, City Administrator Akridge and City Clerk Diane Proudfoot were present. Councilman Myrick was out of town.

 

Councilman Grizzard made a motion to approve the draft copy of the minutes of the October 19, 2017 council meeting. Councilwoman Griffin seconded the motion and it passed without opposition. Councilwoman Key made a motion to approve the agenda of the November 2, 2017 council meeting. Councilwoman Griffin seconded the motion and it passed without opposition.

 

ADMINISTRATIVE AND COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

Councilman Grizzard reported the Senior Luncheon will be on November 14th at noon. The City will provide Turkey, Ham, Dressing and drinks. Everyone was encouraged to bring a covered dish.

Councilwoman Griffin reported there is a lot going on at the Recreation park tonight with Fall Soccer awards; four Co-ed games; the U12 Bears football team, who is undefeated, will play Richmond Hill; the Bonfire turned out great and was sponsored by Bobcat, CocaCola & BiLo; Homecoming was successful the U10 won over Fort Stewart 20-12; U12 won over Rincon 45-6; a special thanks was issued to the Fire and Police Department and encouraged everyone to support the BEARS!

Tammy Myrick History Society President presented awards to the winners of the Fall Decorating Contest which went to Alpha Methodist Church decorated by Walter & Shirley Sapp and Residential to Kisha & Kevin Hann.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

1. Consider a Site Plan for Morgan Business Center Site 200 at S.H. Morgan Parkway for a 356,831 square feet warehouse. City Administrator Akridge stated that Planning Commission and staff recommends approval. Councilman Kerby made a motion to approve the site plan for Morgan Business Center Site 200 subject to the petitioner entering into a water/sewer agreement. Councilwoman Key seconded the motion and it passed without opposition.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Consider Christmas Bonuses for City Employees. Councilman Otto stated this is a budgeted item and made a motion to approve the Christmas Bonuses. Councilman Grizzard seconded the motion and it passed without opposition.

2. Consider Water/Sewer/Garbage/Agreement with Beacon Builders. City Administrator Akridge stated there is one change to the agreement which is to change to read 170 equivalent residential units (ERU) and recommended approval. Councilwoman Griffin made a motion to approve the agreement with stated change. Councilman Otto seconded the motion and it passed without opposition.

3. Consider Final Site Plan for The Meadows Phase I. City Administrator stated Planning Commission and staff recommend approval. Councilwoman Griffin made a motion to approve the final site plan for the Meadows Phase I. Councilman Otto seconded the motion and it passed without opposition.

 

Anthony Acosta of Roma's Pizza questioned the location of the apartments and was informed it would line up with Maple Street on the North side of Hwy 80.

Mayor Rozier reported that this concluded the items presented for consideration for inclusion on the Council agenda prior to the deadline of Wednesday, October 25, 2017.

 

Councilman Otto made a motion to pay the bills. Councilwoman Griffin seconded the motion and it passed without opposition.

 

There being no further business, Councilman Otto made a motion to adjourn at 7:13pm. Councilwoman Kerby seconded the motion and it passed.
