Called Council Meeting

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Rozier who explained the purpose of the meeting was to start the reviewing process of the applications for the police chief’s position.  Since this matter involved personnel issues the Mayor stated that council needed to adjourn into executive session.

 

Councilman Myrick made a motion to adjourn into executive session to review and discuss the applications.  Councilman Ray seconded the motion and it passed with three affirmative votes.

 

A copy of the affidavit required by the Open Meeting Law is attached.

 

After discussion of the applications was completed, Councilman Ray made a motion to return to the regular session.  Councilman Johnson seconded the motion and it passed with three affirmative votes.

 

Mayor Rozier reported that the council had reviewed the applications for the police chief’s position and narrowed the applicants down to six.  These applicants will be contacted by telephone to make sure they are still interested in the position and if so, the interview process will begin.

 

Councilman Myrick made a motion to adjourn the meeting with Councilman Ray seconded the motion and it passed with three affirmative votes.

 

The meeting adjourned at 8:45pm.

                                                           

Mayor Rozier and Council members Johnson, Myrick, and Ray were present at the meeting.

 

 

 

NOTE:  Since there were only three (3) council members present at this meeting, another called council meeting was held on May 27, 2003 to affirm the decisions made by the members at this meeting.
