Official Minutes November 1, 2018 Council Meeting

Approved by City Council at the December 6, 2018 Council Meeting

 

The Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Rozier with Councilman Harley giving the Invocation. Councilmembers Griffin, Grizzard, Harley, Kerby, Key, Otakie, Attorney Dickey, City Administrator Akridge and City Clerk Diane Proudfoot were present.

 

Councilman Grizzard made a motion to approve the draft copy of the minutes of the October 18, 2018 council meeting. Councilwoman Key seconded the motion and it passed without opposition. Councilwoman Griffin made a motion to approve the agenda of the November 1, 2018 council meeting. Councilwoman Key seconded the motion and it passed without opposition.

 

ADMINISTRATIVE AND COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

Councilwoman Griffin reported that a very special thank you was extended from Westside Christian for the support and assistance from the Police Department with the Hwy 80 crossing during their fall festival in which they had approximately 750 in attendance.

Recreation Director Foley reported the Homecoming Bonfire and Parade was a big success, Adult Coed softball has begun, football season will end the last game being on Saturday, we had another great success with Soccer having around 250 participating. He expressed his gratitude to everyone for supporting the recreation department.

 

Councilman Grizzard reported on the following:

November 3rd will be the Fall Vendor Market from 9:00am to 2:00pm and golf carts and drivers are needed to transport vendors to the parking area at the school

November 13 will be the Thanksgiving Senior Luncheon at 12:00 noon

 

Councilman Harley recognized Chief Jeffcoat who introduced the Police Department's newest officer Shane Rigdon and also reported that the Chatham Area TIM Team Championed by Corporal Jeff Cotter has been awarded the 2018 TIM TEAM OF THE YEAR award by the Georgia TIME (Traffic Incident Management Enhancement) Task Force.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

1. Consider Raffle drawing for a 2018 Nissan Altima or Honda Accord - Mr. Bill Grainger. Mr. Bill Grainger thanked everyone for participating in the Raffle Fundraiser and called Collin Foley forward to draw the ticket. The winning ticket was for Raymond Dickey. (There were multiple words of gratitude expressed to Mr. Grainger)

2. Consider Raffle drawing for a $500 Gas/Visa Card. Mr. Bill Grainger ask is grandson Grey Thomas to draw the $500 card. The winning ticket was for Jennifer Rabon.

3. Consider the cancellation of the December 20, 2018 City Council meeting. Councilman Harley made a motion to cancel the Council meeting for December 20, 2018. Councilman Grizzard seconded the motion and it passed without opposition.

 

Mayor Rozier reported that this concluded the items presented for consideration for inclusion on the Council agenda prior to the deadline of Wednesday, October 24, 2018.

 

Councilwoman Griffin made a motion to pay the bills. Councilman Grizzard seconded the motion and it passed without opposition.

 

There being no further business, Councilwoman Griffin made a motion to adjourn at 7:45pm. Councilman Grizzard seconded the motion and it passed without opposition.
